Remediation Ecology Scientist

Madeline Stanley is a Remediation Ecology Scientist at IISD Experimental Lakes Area.

Her expertise is in ecology, primarily focusing on restoration and remediation of freshwater environments, with a keen interest in bioremediation. Before starting as a Remediation Ecology Scientist, Madeline worked as a Policy Advisor with the Water Program.

In May 2024, Madeline defended her PhD at the University of Manitoba where she studied the use of floating treatments wetlands as a non-invasive secondary remediation method for oil spills in freshwater shoreline environments, based on research conducted at the IISD-ELA site as part of their broader suite of research exploring how oil spills affect the health of fresh water.
